Each year, the generosity of people like you makes it possible for our foundations to assist with many projects vital to maintaining the high standard of health care for Albert County Health and Wellness Centre, The Moncton Hospital and Sackville Memorial Hospital. They include:
- The purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment
- Renovation of medical clinics and intensive care units
- Advanced training courses for hospital staff
Your hospital needs your support now more than ever. Please consider one of many ways to help us make a difference in our community. All donations are income tax deductible.
The mission and vision of the Bennett and Albert County Hospital Foundation is to enhance and to have a positive impact on the health and wellness of the people served by the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre through raising funds and managing assets in the spirit of our benefactor, Judge Bennett’s vision. This is achieved through the support of our community and the satisfaction of our donors.
The foundation has been successful in raising funds for a number of vital pieces of equipment including new X-ray and digital imaging equipment, a new community health room, and most recently, state-of-the art telehealth conferencing capabilities that will enable patients to be assessed remotely by other health care experts across the province. Along with keeping the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre on the leading edge of technology, this equipment will also help prevent unnecessary patient transfers to The Moncton Hospital.

It would be difficult to find a patient care area in The Moncton Hospital that has not benefited from donated funds.
Of particular note, in 2006 the Friends embarked on a Capital Campaign that raised $7.5 million to help redevelop and relocate the Medical/Surgical and Coronary Intensive Care Units to an ideal location next to the operating rooms and medical imaging and to purchase the latest technology for the new Ambulatory Care Centre clinics, Emergency/Trauma Centre and laboratory. The Friends` successful fundraising efforts have resulted in the purchase of many pieces of modern equipment such as new ultrasound technology and a Direct Cross Sectioning Imaging Device for the Lion Hugh T. Reardon Eye Clinic, a trans-rectal ultrasound which provides the only method of diagnosing prostate cancer, new ICU monitors, a cardiac assessment clinic, an endoscopic ultrasound, the hospital`s first permanent MRI machine, an angiography suite for the diagnosis and treatment of problems in the body`s vascular system, new ultrasound machines, a bone densitometer for detecting osteoporosis and a range of equipment for the care of premature and sick newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, to name just a few examples. The 2007 “Renovating the Spirit” campaign is raising money for a new Oncology Centre at The Moncton Hospital which is slated to be completed by the summer of 2008.
The foundation requires the support of the community to accomplish projects large and small, from a multi-million dollar MRI to a comfortable La-Z-Boy chair in a patient’s room. Donations can be directed to the foundation’s annual campaign for the hospital’s most urgent need or to a specific care area of the hospital.

The Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation’s fundraising campaigns have been successful in creating a new palliative care suite and purchasing many critical pieces of equipment such as a computed radiography system, an X-ray film processor, a cardiac defibrillator, a new digital imaging system and a bladder scanner, just to name a few.
