Phase 1 Completed
If you haven`t seen The Moncton Hospital lately, you may be in for quite a surprise! Phase 1 of development of South-East Regional Health Authority`s (SERHA) new Ambulatory Care Centre, Trauma and Emergency Department and Laboratory was completed late summer 2006, and the new modern-looking structure presents a new perspective of the hospital to the community.
Alan Mongraw, vice-president of Operations for SERHA, says the mild winter last year contributed to Phase 1 finishing close to the scheduled completion date. Weather conditions were a factor in completing excavation and completion of the concrete building structure on time.
"We are very pleased with the progress that is being made and thrilled to see our plans coming to fruition," says Mongraw.
The second phase of development, estimated to cost approximately $30 million, is currently underway and includes interior construction and installation of mechanical and electrical services such as the heating systems, air conditioning, plumbing and wiring, interior finishes and built-in equipment, and the completion of the atrium that connects the current building with the new structure.
The new Ambulatory Care Centre is slated for completion in early 2008.
