Laboratory Medicine

The laboratory at Sackville Memorial Hospital is responsible for blood collections and processing of specimens from inpatients and outpatients, as well as emergency outpatients, to provide diagnostic and therapeutic information. Medical laboratory technologists perform sophisticated analytical tests of body tissue and body fluids and interpret results.

Located to the right when entering through the main doors of the hospital, the laboratory consists of six areas, in addition to blood collection, to form a general laboratory. These include: chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, transfusion medicine and float.

The laboratory is staffed by medical laboratory technologists and a ward clerk.

No appointment is necessary but tests must be ordered by a family physician.

The Phlebotomy Clinic hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (excluding holidays)

Mission
