approximately 21 beds. Other services provided
on the inpatient unit include palliative care and concentrated care.
Patients are admitted to Family Medicine via the Emergency department or through a referral from a physician. The majority of Family Medicine patients are admitted due to chest pain, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, unstable angina and rehabilitation.
The multidisciplinary Family Medicine team includes physicians, nurses, licensed practical nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, a dietitian, respiratory therapist, speech-language therapist and social worker.
Health care professionals are committed to provide multidisciplinary care for patients and families with acute, chronic, rehabilitative and palliative care needs, in partnership with community agencies.
