Sackville Memorial Hospital is located in beautiful Sackville,
New Brunswick, rich with small-town charm and big-city
conveniences. The hospital is the second largest facility in
South-East Regional
Health Authority's multidisciplinary network of hospitals,
health centres, services and programs leading the way in health
promotion
and education.
The first Sackville Memorial Hospital opened in 1949. That building was demolished and the new hospital was opened in April 1988. This facility serves the population of Sackville, Dorchester, Port Elgin and surrounding areas. The interdisciplinary team provides quality care to patients with acute, chronic and rehabilitation needs and is committed to working with community partners in provision of this care.
A wide range of services are available at the hospital, including a 24-hour Emergency department, diagnostics (laboratory, radiology, ECG, Holter monitoring and spirometry), surgery, palliative care and the Tantramar Unit of the Extra-Mural Program. The state-of-the-art facility has up-to-date equipment and its smaller size allows for a personalized level of care.
Inpatient services include day surgery, a family practice inpatient unit and a special care unit providing more intensive care to acutely ill patients
Sackville Memorial Hospital provides various outpatient services, which include speech-language pathology, rehabilitation and diabetes clinics, dietary counselling and addiction services. Addiction counselling is also offered. Ambulatory care is provided by visiting specialists in the areas of orthopedics, plastic surgery, gynecology and general surgery in outpatient clinics. Red Cross and VON are also located in the facility.
Each year approximately 1,000 patients are admitted to the hospital, 18,000 patients are seen in the emergency room and 3,000 receive care in ambulatory clinics.
Sackville Memorial Hospital provides interdisciplinary heath care services with a goal of promoting high quality health care to patients, families and the community of Tantramar. Care is directed towards patients with acute, chronic and rehabilitation needs via ambulatory, emergency, surgical and inpatient services, emphasizing health promotion in partnership with the patient, family and community in the Tantramar region.
From the Trans-Canada Highway, take exit 504 and head south on Main Street. Follow the "H" signs through two sets of stop lights. Sackville Memorial Hospital is located at 8 Main Street.
