PHYSIOTHERAPY Services The Moncton Hospital’s Physiotherapy service uses scientifically-based knowledge and specialized clinical skills to prevent, improve or resolve movement problems in patients. The goal of physiotherapy is to identify and treat problems with movement and posture or body position. Physiotherapy Services, located on the seventh floor of The Moncton Hospital, values respect, caring, honesty, compassion and competency and helps patients understand treatment options, set goals, and plan the right treatment program. Physiotherapists offer outpatient, hospital-based,clinic-based, and Extra Mural services including assessment, treatment, education and offer clinics for patients of all ages who have function-limiting conditions. They are involved with the Orthopedic Clinic, Hemophiliac Clinic, and Pain Management Clinic. Hospital-based services include burns, neurosciences, cardio-respiratory, general medicine and coronary care. Physiotherapists also offer their services to the Geriatric Assessment Clinic and the Rehabilitation Day Treatment Program. Physiotherapists from the Extra-Mural Program provide home care for individuals who are unable to come to the hospital for services. South-East Regional Health Authority employs approximately 25 physiotherapists and eight physiotherapy assistants who work out of The Moncton Hospital, Sackville Memorial Hospital and the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre. Physiotherapy Services receives approximately 21,000 outpatient visits annually while providing acute inpatient care seven days a week. Mission The mission of the Physiotherapy service is to enable our clients to achieve maximum physical independence through prevention, education and intervention.  Back to top |
